You were panicked, likely in shock. You were still processing what you had been through to the point it hadn't occurred to you to seek medical attention for Tony. This isn't a criticism, it's totally understandable.
When a person reports a fire, or an encounter with a dangerous animal, that individual doesn't get to dictate when or how the response occurs. When there is a potential threat to the public, action has to be taken. And time is of the essence.
An encounter with a sentient creature of any kind is something everyone should immediately be made aware of. Particularly if the creature may pose a threat. So people deserved to know what had happened as quickly as possible, and to have reasonable steps taken to protect them.
I made the information available, personally secured the stairwell, and asked others for their opinions and help. I was curt in discouraging a child from going down to see the creature alone. I'm sorry you may have felt cut out of the loop Peter, but this is bigger than you. It was time sensitive, and you were still processing your encounter. Others stepped up, like Carol we all brainstormed ideas and possible solutions. So had the situation turned dangerous, we were prepared.
