Again, he nodded, and told Gretel what he could make out at this distance - the handful of buildings and the lack of movement other than the rising smoke. He took a quick drink, and let his eyes relax before looking round at Gretel.
"Look, I should let you know, I'm really not used to so much greenery and nature. If we were in a city, it would be different. I'd know what to do, what we could expect, what the dangers to us could be, but out here like this? Having good eyesight doesn't help when I don't know what to look out for," he admitted, speaking as quickly and clearly as he could. If there were people that could be helped, time was of the essence. "I want to go quickly and see if we're not too late to help whoever lived here, but at the same time, I don't know what is and isn't dangerous out here and I don't want us to end up needing help as well. That guy Jim seems to think this place is going to be pretty shocking lethal for most of us and I don't want to speed that up, you know? So, what do you think? You know what you're doing in this environment, where I definitely do not. Can we get there quickly and safely?"
