She let the silence continue for a few more moments after his question as she tried to think of how to answer that. They weren't back home and this experience edged too closely to the Games for her to feel any sort of calm. At least if it had been like the war she would have an idea of what was coming.
This was entirely too much like that in between year, before they had known about the Quarter Quell, but the entire weight of her future, her family's, Peeta's and even Gale's lives was balanced on her shoulders. Every movement she took, every word she'd spoken could equal safety or terror and there was no knowing which was the right path to go down.
"I think you should make alliances. Get to know people. Help where you can, get help while you can and you'll make it out of here." She rose as she spoke, picking up the cot to secure it in place again against her back. "You can be good with people and you've got the brain for whatever this is, Gale."
