The debris they dodged had to have been roof slats from the nearby pool bars - or pieces of wood, metal, things large enough to impale someone. Hopefully there weren't a lot of people caught outside - namely, Katniss. He knew she'd also gone looking for supplies and it worried Gale. When this was all said and done, everything would be scattered like autumn leaves, but not as picturesque - the palm trees creaked in a way that chilled Gale's blood, but he kept going.
