It’s believing that something is true without necessarily having the evidence. Sometimes that does mean following someone else’s lead, sure. Relinquishing power — sometimes. But it’s more than that.
I get what you mean when you say you don’t trust anybody. I get why you think that. But I don’t believe it’s true. It’s hard to have faith that someone is telling you the truth when you can’t know for sure; it’s not easy to trust someone else’s abilities or strengths in place of your own ideas or capabilities. I’ve certainly been there. But I think you still trust people to be who you believe them to be. Sometimes.
