Connor heard her voice before he saw her, his audio processing equipment always the first to reboot. It had made his initial creation and 'awakening' a bit startling--waking up to total darkness and strange voices in the Cyberlife factory where he'd been created. But while he didn't recognize Opal's voice because he'd never heard it in person, there was something familiar enough about it that he wasn't scared.
If anything he was sad he was making her worry. But he couldn't move right away to tell her that.

Connor blinked, his eyes flickering with more life, the LED on his forehead spinning to a soft yellow as he looked around--resisting the urge to comment on how his face was not in the position he'd left it in, her fingerprints were there to tell him why.
"St̝͠andi͈͂n̹̈́g̙̽ r̊͢e̗͐q̲͆ui͉̿re̓ͅs more ë͜ner̟̔g̯̈́y͈̓ t̤͝han̾͜ I h̒͟a̢͑v͖̄e i̙͌m̮͘m͙͛ȩ̽di̻̅at̬́ḙ̋ly a̛̯f̲̉t̞̽er̪̉ an in̝̅i͓͑tial r̜̍eb̛̝o̢͞ot. In a̯͗ ṁ̲om͇̽en͒͟t I̹͂ ẇ̰il͖̈l̘͝ atte̛̲m̳̂pt̪́ it.͈̎"
His voice crackled with an alarming static, his voicebox glitching with the rest of him.
"P̝̉le̮̊as̹̋e̖͒ doń̫'t wǫ̈rry t͈̂ö̭́o͚̽ m̟̓u̧͊ch,̘̕ Op̭̀â͖l.͙́.͎̌.͔́" The android raised a hand to reach for her shoulder gently.
