In the week since he'd found himself in an unfamiliar parking lot, Mr. Gray had fallen into something like a routine that revolved, for the most part, around checking in with Blue and staying either sequestered in his room or away from the motel entirely. That last was largely due to Ronan Lynch and his understandable desire to see and hear as little as possible from Mr. Gray. Inasmuch as it was possible when they were staying in the same building, Mr. Gray had respected that.
That wasn't to say he hadn't seen Ronan Lynch around town. He was, however, fairly certain that Ronan Lynch (and later, Declan Lynch) hadn't seen him.
Café Tropical had become part of the routine the second day in Schitt's Creek and he hadn't wavered from it since. The only thing that had changed had been his orders, from the most mundane of the café's offerings to whatever creation Twyla had settled on that morning. Mr. Gray wasn't excited to see what that might be... more indifferent than engaged, but it made him a tolerant test subject if not an enthusiastic one.
Seeing an unfamiliar man in Twyla's place was a surprise, but not one that altered the expression on Mr. Gray's face. He went to the same table he'd taken the first morning he'd been there and settled in, hands folded on the table in front of him and attention on the new variable in the room... but only out of the corner of his eye.
