Two days ago the newspaper had eluded to illegal activities going on in the tunnels underneath the city and six hours ago Barbara Gordon had started digging. Information on the tunnels, information on the history of the town, police records, footage, witness statements, complaints. Anything that she could get her hands on through her hacking she was compiling into her encrypted system. It wasn't hard to cover her tracks, the firewalls in the sheriff's office were surprisingly easy to get through... On the other hand this was a rather tiny town. Why would a local town sherriff's office have a heavy-duty firewall around their system?
She lay on her stomach on the bed of her room as her fingers flew over the keys. When she'd finally gotten home from work it had taken her all of six minutes to collapse on the bed and turn on the television. She'd been hoping to catch the news but unfortunately it had taken extra time to get all the kids out of the library that night - thus she'd missed it. Instead there had been some horror flick on. She hadn't been all that interested in it at first but had kept it on for background noise. Despite that, as she continued with her digging she found part of her attention on the movie - I Know What You Did Last Summer. It was... not her normal type of film but she remembered seeing it when she was younger. And seeing it now she could not for the life of her figure out why this sort of thing had scared her once upon a time. Given what she faced now of course this movie wouldn't scare her, but all the same what she'd thought back then and what she thought now were of no consequence.
She reached behind her to the table next to the bed, grabbing her beer and taking a sip of it before returning to her typing. She needed to finish getting the stuff compiled before she fed it into the Batcomputer. She wasn't about to go into this with Bruce without being completely prepared. If there was another organized crime syndicate in this town, then they weren't taking any chances. From what she saw the tunnels lay under Spring and Main Streets. She read over the encrypted information in front of her - files taken directly from the town's administration archive - doing her best to memorize it. She didn't notice that her door wasn't closed all the way - the 'do not disturb' sign having caught in the lock (not that it mattered. If something happened, she could take whoever it was and she knew it.). Looking up from the screen for a moment she smirked and rolled her eyes at the scene on the tv screen in frnt of her before going back to typing.
This movie? Maybe she was enjoying it a bit more than she should, even though she really didn't get why it was scary at all... not now.
