It was usual for Lina to walk around the town as dark started to set in; it gave her something to do, as being holed up in her apartment with her cat wasn't exactly her idea of a great time. She had a tough day at work, and after she had showered and took a small nap, she felt it was necessary to get some air. Her heels clicked against the sidewalks as she walked toward her favorite bookstore in the French Quarter, hoping she would be able to make it before they closed.
Luck was on her side that night. The lights were still on and she could see people coming in and out a few blocks ahead, so she picked up her pace and was at the entrance within moments. She walked into the well-lit book store and made her way toward her favorite section. Fiction was undoubtedly the best place for her to search, as she could find anything from dystopian novels to science fiction. The scent of new books lingered in the air and she took in a deep breath, a smile slowly spreading across her face.
Lina began to pull novels off the shelves, including The Handmaid's Tale -- she owned four copies and was still building her collection so she could have each of the different covers -- and 1984. She brought the stack of books to a nearby table and set them down before she pulled out a chair and settled down comfortably. It was definitely the best way she could think of spending her night, burying her nose in books she already owned or previously read, but she honestly didn't feel like staying at home. Her eyes scanned over the rest of the store, checking to see if anybody was watching her. She then opened the first book she touched and deeply inhaled the fresh scent once again.
