The expression on the other's face made Atreus assume he was going to be told to mind his own business so it came as a mild surprise when he wasn't. Part of him wished he could be surprised that the were had been attacked simply for what he was, as that was the conclusion Atreus drew from his words. The fae was also willing to bet it had been humans that did the attacking. They had a track record with the fae after all -- Atreus might not have been alive at that time but he knew his history -- and such behavior from humans was expected. It was why they were generally used rather than remotely trusted.
Atreus kept his opinions to himself, however, recognizing that it wasn't the time. "And that brought you here, I'm guessing?" Seeking a fresh start, the fae would also guess. So many questions in his mind and so annoying to sort through them, trying to pick out those that seemed less intrusive. Times like these he almost understood how the humans could be so blunt and ignore personal boundaries in the sake of finding knowledge.
