igual, adjective
the same
The core meaning of igual as an adjective is the same:
Spanish: Todas las casas son iguales.
English: All the houses are the same.
When you want to compare things, you can use igual followed by a or que:
Spanish: El vestido es igual al que compraste el año pasado.
English: The dress is the same as the one you bought last year.
Spanish: Tengo una falda igual que la tuya.
English: I've got a skirt just like yours or the same as yours.
Family members often resemble one another, and when they're really alike you can use igual, or the diminutive igualito.
Spanish: Es igual que su madre.
English: She looks just like her mother.
Spanish: Las dos hermanas son igualitas.
English: The two sisters are the spitting image of one another.
