ilusión, noun
hope; dream; illusion
Apart from meaning hope, as we've seen before,
Spanish: Llegó aquí con mucha ilusión.
English: She arrived here full of hope.
ilusión is also used to describe when we're feeling enthusiastic and excited:
Spanish: ¡Qué ilusión verte aqui!
English: It's great to see you here!
Spanish: Dijo que tenía mucha ilusión por hacerlo bien.
English: He said he was really keen to make a good job of it.
In Spain in particular, ilusión is used with the verb hacer either when you're looking forward to something...
Spanish: El viaje me hace mucha ilusión.
English: I'm so looking forward to the trip.
...or when something has really thrilled you:
Spanish: Ganar a Navratilova me ha hecho muchísima ilusión.
English: I was really thrilled to beat Navratilova.
