[ Chall is quiet for as long as Ibram spoke. The only sound she made was that when she shifted in her sitting and set the glass aside on a side table. Hearing his tale, she realizes just how far apart their worlds are, how many things were completely different, to the point that she wonders if there were even points in common at all.
Take away the little similarities and the only thing they can share are worlds at war. With all the trouble Ibram had described in his anecdote, Chall wonders if what they had experienced back home -- far away as it is now -- would even be possible. Surely, Celestial Being had been successful in not bringing war into space, but they had walked into warring worlds instead.
With her hands no longer bearing the chill from the glass she held a moment ago, she reaches out one to gently place on Ibram's knee, meant to comfort and to show compassion. ]
You have been through many things. I'm sorry you have had to get hurt and that you have had to lose good people.
Many of the things you spoke of, we haven't encountered in our homeworld. We have the noble -- albeit foolish -- mission of bringing peace. Apparently, there are many things we did not anticipate.
