That was the best way to describe it, really, and for someone who constantly claimed that he didn't know what normal was like, Reid kind of enjoyed it. A lot. Just going out with her, keeping her company while she picked out clothes, paying for it like it was the most natural thing in the world... and then filling the perpetually empty fridge, taking turns in the shower, getting dressed, going out - actually going out, on a proper date. Dinner and a movie, and unlike the times they'd done it in Marina this felt so much more... real. Less of a pleasant excuse to waste time and more like they spent what little time they had on things they really wanted to do.
It felt like they were going back to what they were in prison, only more so. Maybe things weren't great yet, but after tonight it at least felt like they'd have a chance to be.
So when Reid unlocked the front door late that night, he felt good. Confident that he could leave in the morning and it would still be fine - he still didn't want to, but it would be fine. Phones existed, he'd be back at some point and until then... well. They'd manage. They had options. It wasn't all pitch-black and that was enough for him to turn to Kitty with a lopsided smile before pushing the door open for her.]
