There were rules for a reason and they had worked fucking well up to this point. Negan knew what he was doing, what heads to put on the bashing block and what ones to put in charge. The man had a natural (at least as far as Harley had seen) eye and talent for that sort of thing. He was allll bite when he needed to be but that didn't mean he was cruel for no reason. Harley knew he'd have to bring the cat decision to Negan eventually but until then, he was glad to have the kitten to himself.
Harley shrugged. "I'm no vet but she felt fine. Nothing broken or bruised. She don't mind when I touch her little paws. Or, mind it much," he grinned and reached out with one finger, hooking it under the tiny kitty paw in the littlest handshake. "I'll have to take her over to Adam eventually. He's a people doctor but hey, he'd know better than me if there was something wrong with her." It would be incredibly clever of the cat to figure out that noise drew the walkers. How she had figured that out, he didn't want to know but he could guess.
"Yeah, after the ghost cat. I'd always wanted him to talk like the cat in the movie. If he did, it was never 'round me," Harley shrugged. Binx had been a smart cat too. Unfortunately not clever enough to outwit his mother the drunk and her car. He was still convinced she'd done it on purpose. Heaven forbid he love an animal more than his own parent. When Alicia commented on Binx sleeping with him, he nodded with another grin, a bit wider than the first. "He was a bed hog. I still don't know how he managed to take up the whole bed when he was so much smaller than me."
When she said that her parents hadn't let her have pets, he understood her better. No wonder she had been so excited. "Well," he started, sucking on his bottom lip for a moment. "If you can promise me that you'll take care of her and keep her out of trouble, you can keep her with you. I'm out so much anyhow. How about it? You wanna co-parent with me?"
