Alicia hoped he was right about Negan. Then again, she suspected he was, partially because Harley knew Negan better than just about anyone and also because, despite what the people of Alexandria might claim, Negan wasn't a monster. "We'll make sure she doesn't become any trouble for anyone." The adorable ball of fluff.
The idea of a cat that didn't make a noise was strange, and Alicia had the tiniest frown on her face as she stared at it. "Maybe her throat is damaged somehow?" She wouldn't know, she wasn't a vet. The frown became a slightly sad smile. "Could be how she's survived out there, the infected weren't drawn to her meowing." And as small as she was, the sound of her paws would barely register. They had all seen how the infected could devour an animal as quickly as a human, lured by the need for flesh regardless of where it came from.
As he talked, she listened with rapt attention. Like most of them, Harley rarely mentioned life before the world ended. Alicia was the same, often thinking of those years as though they were lived by some completely different girl. "Binx as in the cat from Hocus Pocus?" God, she had loved that movie as a kid. "He sounds adorable, I bet you let him sleep on your bed and everything." She could picture that happening much more easily than the idea of Harley with a nanny. "Nope. Always wanted one. My neighbor had a dog, this gorgeous German Shepard." Until he had turned and eaten his beloved pet. "My parents never let me have one though. Didn't want the extra stress, there was already enough of that." The issues faced by her Dad and later her brother, and how her mother's focus was always on those.
