She was no stranger to outdoor markets, there were quite a few in Asia that had been open at night, lit was gas lamps, and the like. She was pretty good at haggling without the need to use her compulsion gift. Though here, because coins were hard to come by she did use it on occasion. With the people she could. She didn't use it to cheat any of the vendors, just to keep from being cheated. With those she didn't feel the 'pull' when looking them in the eye, she did use her looks, and a little flirtation. Which meant tight clothes or low cut blouses.

Today she was going for both. A knotted button down black top, without the use of any of the buttons, and leggings that had ruching in down her back end, that made her posterior look like a peach. Topped with some quality trainers, and she could claim that she had been working out or was going to, only a choice few knew for sure that she was a vampire after all.

Currently, Bryn was thumbing through some records. Her head barely lifting to acknowledge the vendor, as she plucked out the ones she wanted. She had been scanning, and buying, records every time she came to the shops since she had spoken to Bucky about it. Anything to help the former soldier. "No Benny Goodman, today?" It was a disappointment, when the vendor shook his head. "Well, how about I give you my number, and you keep an eye out for one in playable condition for me. I would be willing to pay a good price for one, especially if it had Sing, sing, sing on it." She leaned over the table, showing ample cleavage, and beamed her number to the vendor when he agreed. "Now what do I owe you for these?" When he gave her a what seemed like a good price she paid without haggling him down. After all, she wanted that Benny Goodman record bad, so she wanted to leave a good impression.

"Is that always how you get what you want? Show some of your assets and flash a smile?" John asked. He had been standing nearby by for a short amount of time but long enough to observe the conversation in its entirety. He casually lit a cigarette and turned his head to look at the seller. John smirked a touch and turned away, looking back at Bryn. It was clear the vendor was quite smitten with Bryn and he couldn't really blame him either.

She was certainly pretty but most of the women he had met so far in Gehenna had been. None of them quite compared to Aphrodite though but that was to be expected. She was a Goddess after all, one tied with beauty. Imagine the hell that would have rained down should someone more beautiful arrive? Alternatively, the denial would have been something to observe.

John wrapped the handle of the bag he was carrying a bit more around his wrist to secure it. He had been visiting the market for a few more items for his collection. Herbs and oils, things that could be found on the regular market. He had yet to find the more magic related stalls but he would eventually.

Bryn glanced back at the speaker. Constantine. She bent down, making sure to bend at her waist, and gather her bag, into which she placed the records she'd 'won'. She didn't want the vendor to hear her trade secrets, plus he wasn't the only one watching her either.

"I wouldn't say always. You have to have a feel for if that is going to work or not. Sometimes I use other means, something more along the lines with what we talked about via text." She glanced back at the vendor, she could smell his attraction. Maybe if he found that Benny Goodman for her she'd let him know that she worked at the Brothel. She gave him a little smile.

"Constantine, I presume?" She'd had more of a drawl with the vendor, something she learned some of them responded better to, than how she naturally spoke. Now that she was out of earshot of him, she didn't bother with the put on. Her natural accent was a mix of proper Londoner, with a Georgia southern stretch to the words, peppered with her own Norse, but that was faint... She had to wonder if talking to the man she approached would refresh her British Isle brogue.

John understood that. It was good to know when and when not to turn on the charm. Understanding who would fall for what trick and how to go about approaching each person. Casual observation helped a bit as well as some sneaky magic.

John walked with her casually, all his usual arrogance in that swagger of his. He tucked his hands into his coat pockets and smiled a touch at her. "Suppose I could say that was a good guess" he shrugged. "John Constantine" he added. "And you're Bryn. The new girl. At least for now until someone else shows up"

"So what are you wanting that record for anyway? Why is it so important?" he asked curiously. He couldn't help himself. Was she that big of a fan or was it for someone? Maybe a trade she wanted to make? So long as that damned evil record didn't show up...

"Well for two reasons, someone reminded me of just how amazing Jazz of that age was, and it is incredibly fun to dance to." Bryn gave him a little grin. "Swing dancing is almost as fun as sex. It gets your heart racing, you work up a sweat, and if you do it right, by the end your panting and in need of a cigarette." She nodded toward the inevitable pack that was probably in his pocket.

She'd taken a chance telling Jason and Bucky about her being a vampire, Asmodeus was a need to know because he was her employer. And it might eventually be a selling point, much like the window. She didn't know what Constantine's reaction would be, not that, if he decided to end her, she'd go far. Jason had assured her any death would place her in the hospital.

"The second is someone requested it. And I work at the brothel, if I meet a client's request they're more likely to become a repeat customer, and not raise a fuss when I tell them how many coins I charge." She nodded toward his bag. "Did you get what you needed?"

John listened to her answers. He hadn't honestly expected her to reply to him. Maybe change the subject and move on but she actually replied to his question and her answers more informative. So she worked at the brothel? She was certainly attractive. He wasn't sure why she hadn't opted to work for the Goddess over the Demon but maybe she hadn't been given the option. Maybe the Demon had got to her quicker? Probably.

John glanced down at the bag he was carrying briefly. "I did" he replied, looking from the bag, back over to her. In truth he still had a few more things he needed to find but they weren't urgently needed. Not much was for the time being. His life was fairly relaxed. As far as he was aware, he didn't have any major enemies to worry about yet. None of them were mad enough at him to do anything about him yet. It would only be a matter of time before John really started making enemies. In time, his friends would abandon him and if they didn't, John would find some sort of way to make them regret sticking by him. It's how things always worked out for him.

"Is that all you came for then? The record?" he asked as they walked together.

She saw no reason not to answer his question, at least partially. She wouldn't tell him what Bucky had said, it wasn't her place. Sure some of their conversation had been public, important bits had not been. And she respected Bucky, as most should. She didn't doubt he had been through a lot. She felt it was safe to keep focus on her end of the conversation.

"Oh, no. I come here a couple times a day, in between Jo-", just one syllable in she realised what she had been about to say and closed her mouth with a snap, curling her lips toward her teeth for a second when she glanced at his face. "Sorry. In between clients." Now that she knew his first name she was going to have to work on not calling them 'Johns'.

"I don't know how long I'm going to be stuck here, so I'm trying to make my stay here less of an inconvenience. So I come looking for things that I can use to decorate, or that I might use to make items. Like my request for ruined furniture. And my visits are also a little client based, everybody has their different kinks." But she also didn't plan on being a whore forever.

John came to the market at least once a week as well. It allowed him to top up on things and he needed and gradually add to his magic related supplies. He needed a couple of stores worth of materials. One for his flat and one for the second home he had been arranging. Having more than one home was a good way to keep himself safer. Keeping himself hidden from people he didn't want finding him and Willa had already found his flat. At least his next door neighbour was an interesting person.

"No one really knows how long we'll be stuck here for" John shrugged. "Best getting comfortable because we might be here for a long time" he said, raising his eyebrows.

He reached into his pocket and took out a packet of cigarettes, tapping one free and lighting it before pocketing the packet and the lighter.
"Suppose I should be off. Think I need a drink"

"Then I will leave you to that. I should probably get back to the brothel." But she did want to get changed first. And she started to go... But then stopped herself. And turned back toward him.

"Constantine, I do have a question for you, with you being a warlock and all... Have you found any of your spell work behaving oddly? Or not at all, here? I haven't tried anything other than compulsion, but I don't want to get into a sticky situation go for a spell and put myself into a molasses flood of a situation." Bryn found herself crinkling her nose, some surprises weren't as nice as others. And with the BAA behaving badly, as predicted, that was most definitely not a situation she wanted to find herself in with them.
