Jason Todd ([info]abetterbatman) wrote in [info]entrywaythreads,
Jason, who worked hard at removing his own but knew the New Jersey was never really going to leave him, liked to think he was good at picking out accents. Hers though, he couldn't exactly place entirely. There was a lot going on there, which he supposed was to be expected given that she might have been a great deal older than she looked. Immortals were always tricky. He wasn't working though, he could relax and not have to worry that she wasn't who and what she said she was. Of course the issue there was actually letting himself relax. Hyper-vigilance made him good at his job but tended to ruin his social life.

He locked the door behind her. It was a small knob, one that could be turned easily if she wanted to leave but it would be enough to keep anyone who saw the lights from coming in. He hadn't wanted to make her anxious, incredibly powerful undead creature of the night aside, she was still a comparatively small woman and he was a tall man with weapons and a soundproof basement. He understood how it looked and how some people might have been uneasy, no matter that Jason was the farthest from that sort of man.

There was a soft snort at her words and he tilted his head a little to tell her to follow him through the small aisle between racks and back to where he had the stools set up at the counter. "I would have been shorter than most people," he said with a little amused smirk. "Of course, the height on my dating profiles would still be the same."
