When: Tuesday Morning, 2/23
Where: City Hall
What: Weekly meeting
Ratings/Warnings: tba

Graham was giving another of his endless status reports, once again looking for Michael’s approval. Perhaps that was the nice thing about making himself very clear at the beginning of this waking nightmare he was currently experiencing was that he didn’t have to even feign civility. He could stare unblinking at the man as he went on about his outreach and his efforts to bring a little ‘goodness’ to purgatory, obviously waiting for him to finish and not feel an ounce of guilt for being rude. It suited him very well.

Adam would have hated it. Adam would have encouraged him to listen or would have asked to take over. Adam would have been good and kind and understanding. Adam would have been a decent mayor and might have been able to see his way to getting all these people to where they needed to be. But Adam was gone. There was no bringing the young man back. Gehenna would never know how unfortunate his loss was. They were stuck with just Michael, but there was always the possibility that someone new might get voted in and they would be the ones stuck in weekly meetings.

“I think we have a clear picture of your progress,” Michael spoke up when Graham made the mistake of taking a breath. “Why don’t we take a break? Five minutes. After that we can get to the rest of the reports and hopefully not spend the rest of the day in here.” Days were funny things, there were none technically, but someone was keeping track of a day cycle and insisted that this would have been daytime. It didn’t bother Michael much, but he knew he was in the minority.

His suggestion seemed to go over well and a few of the others started getting up and moving about the room. Michael glanced from face to face until his eyes met the Prince’s.

Jonne shook his head disapprovingly. He had been under the thumb of leaders who didn't care before and he didn't much like them. Princes he was cruel or careless. Of course, Michael being distant was tame compared to some of the things he had seen from leaders. The Princes who burned Kindred on the beaches as a warning... That memory would never leave him.

"Do things however you choose. It is not for me to say" he said with a shrug of his shoulders. "So long as we all get along around the table and we are all understood. I have enough to deal with in regards to Kindred society, let alone the whole city so I do not envy your position" he said simply.

His situation was frustrating. He wanted to bring all Kindred together. That they would all be welcome in the Gallery of Visions one day. No more worries of firebombs or anything like that. He had a lot of work ahead of him.

"Graham," he nodded his head in the direction of the bearded man without looking at him. "He would see me as a sort of priest guiding his flock toward paradise, no matter what I tell him he thinks I am testing everyone before letting them move on. The money men would like me to be a business man, as if it truly matters here, and want me to start amassing favors for the good of the city. Others want other things. And so on and so on. I had a brief window to make a statement about myself and how I intended to behave in this position, I chose to be seen as difficult."

He had his own reasons for that, as he did most things. And likely, like most things, it would eventually bite him in the ass.

"You see yourself as more of a caretaker for your people, then?" Michael asked, noting how he responded to his show of misanthropy. He didn't hate or really dislike humanity as a group, his years with Adam had shown him quite a lot more of them than ruling from heaven had, maybe he didn't love them but there were a few he liked. The people here though, the majority of them deserved to be here and anything that wasn't human shouldn't have been there to begin with. The fact that this vampire didn't see humanity as cattle as he would have guessed, or was at least good at maintaining his image, was very interesting to the archangel.

"Something like that..." he replied. "I am a Shaman" he added. "A seer. I have always tried to act as a guiding hand of sorts. I believe my experience, and my path, will allow me to look after the other Kindred" he said with hope in his voice. "I have seen Kindred society go through a number of phases, as unchanging as it seems to be, it has had its moments"

He paused to look over at the others in the room, before looking back to Michael. "I have had visions of serpents ever since I arrived here... Sometimes it's a nest of vipers. Sometimes it's two snakes intertwined in a birds nest. I can't say I understand yet. The last vision I saw a serpent slithering over broken glass. It cut its belly as it moved over the shards. It lashed out, afraid, making things worse. The wounds multiply and the snake dies. On the broken glass are runes I can't recognise..."

Michael had never been much for looking into the future. Perhaps it was simply how he was created. There was never any need to worry about the future because his Father's plan had been in place from the very beginning of everything and all he ever had to do was obey and carry out His will. There had been times when he faltered, when his Father had disappeared and he had nothing but himself and His plan. Any time he had dared to try to look he only saw that which helped strengthen his conviction, as did relaying what he saw to Raphael.

Of course, he hadn't seen himself being trapped in the cage, hadn't seen Raphael's death. That was always the problem with perception. Even angels tended to see what they wanted to see.

"Runes?" He asked in a way that suggested he was intrigued by the notion of this vampire having visions.

Jonne picked up his notebook and flipped through it until he came to what he was looking for. He turned the book around so that Michael could see it. There on the pages were a series of rubes drawn out in different positions. Some of them were cut in half, thanks to the broken glass breaking them up. There was some hastily written notes on the page too, trying to make sense of things. Drawings of other runes that he thought might have been related to what was there. The handwriting was messy and obviously done in a state of distress.

"I have been having visions for hundreds of years. It is one of my Clans gifts. My bloodline" he explained. "I am of Clan Malkavian. We are gifted seers who receive visions. We are the shamans. The alarm bell, the early warning. That is when we are able to make sense of what we see and even after all these hundreds of years I still find my visions difficult to work out" he sighed.

Now he just had to hope that Michael wasn't going to mock him. He was fairly accustomed to being openly ridiculed by the other Clans, especially at Primogen meetings. Even by the Clans that had adopted him as an honorary member.
