"I did," Lavender assured him. "Hannah is a lovely girl. I really enjoyed her company."
She shrugged, looking down. "I haven't said anything because there hasn't been anything to say. Penny was a... I don't know. Maybe she'd call it an anomaly or something. I would never carry on two relationships simultaneously." The timer rang out and Lavender stared at it almost tiredly before moving to drain the pasta. "One thing I would certainly never do is cheat." Just the thought of it could make her feel queasy.
Lavender lightly seasoned her pasta, then started to grate parmesan over the top, wanting just a simple meal tonight. "There's nothing notable in my past. I mean, I'm no angel, but I've never lived with someone or fallen in love or done anything dramatic like get engaged. Any relationships with women have literally only lasted a couple of weeks."
She smiled wryly, turning to face Richard as she held her bowl with one hand and stirred the contents gently. "Only one person has ever broken my heart," she confided. "Ron Weasley. When we were sixteen. But, funnily enough, he is the one who can't look me in the eye these days."
Starting to twist pasta around her fork, Lavender raised her eyebrows at him. "Enough backstory for you?" she teased.
