RP: I need some distraction When: 31 January 2004 Who: Pansy Parkinson, Penny Clearwater Where:Tattered Pages Private/Public: Private Rating: R but sadly not as adult as Pansy wanted Summary: Pansy thinks to distract herself from her mood with a good book.
Pansy had gotten up with a headache. She'd been on the verge of tears through much of the afternoon the previous day, and while Draco had distracted her marvelously for awhile, she'd come home and tried a little firewhiskey in the hopes of maintaining the better mood. Pansy didn't do firewhiskey well, but it was the strongest stuff she could find in her house. She hadn't drunk herself into a hangover, by any means, but it hadn't helped the headache that had been threatening, and she'd gotten up needing to take a potion.
The potion, at least, had done it's job and her head felt much better, but she couldn't get back to sleep. Spending the day depressing herself was not something she intended to do, however. She could work on her hotel ideas, and she needed to owl Astoria, but it was the weekend and she'd need more than that to distract her until Monday. That was when she decided to go shopping for some new books.
She wasn't in the mood for a Muggle shop, she thought, but she'd heard about a bookshop in Hogsmeade that carried the romance novels she enjoyed and she'd been thinking she'd see what the selection was like. She'd heard the shop had changed hands since she was in school, but she remembered it as a pretty good store. Today would be a good day to check it out, she decided.
Winter was depressing her, and yesterday's solemnity had done so, as well, so she purposefully chose some pretty rose coloured robes for the day. She'd thought about pale pink, but it was still January and too chilly for them. The rose ones flattered her, she thought, and they were low-cut enough to show off her figure nicely without being slutty. And they were pretty. She wanted to feel pretty today.
She chose a navy cloak, pulling up the hood and slipping on leather gloves before apparating to Hogsmeade. She had to look around a bit to find the shop she wanted...she hadn't been in Hogsmeade for age. But it didn't prove too difficult to locate. Pansy went into the shop and closed the door behind herself. For a moment, she just stood there and took a deep breath, her eyes closed. The scent of leather and parchment made her smile, and she decided she'd made a very good decision.
