Ginny watched as Richard collapsed in his chair. She knew he was a colorful character of many interests, but she wondered if acting was really one of them. His shock certainly seemed genuine. And the tears were definitely moving. Ginny took a few moments to draw a few breaths.
"You want us to use the decrees?"
But that wasn't the most important question was it? The important question was why he was so sure it was Lavender that was harmed... unless. He had an alibi in his Muggle papers if they turned out to be true, but everything else stacked up. Ginny for a single second put herself in his position. If something like this had happened to Harry years ago. Or Neville, or someone new, if she had someone. She pushed this out of her mind.
It was very hard for Ginny not to be emotional. But she had to be cautious. She'd grown up having to be.
"You've jumped to conclusions, or perhaps you already knew. It wouldn't be difficult, as it has been in the papers, but yes, you have correctly identified the victim" Ginny stated, trailing off. She didn't bring up that he had been named by a witness, but instead gave him a look of concern. She wasn't fully convinced that he was the killer. Death Eaters were crafty. She wasn't fully convinced that he wasn't the killer either.
She hated thinking of Lavender Brown, a former Gryffindor, like her.
"Just comply willingly, and everything will go much more quickly." She gave a pointed look at Savage. She looked away and back at Richard, "You never told me who you came into contact with the day of your trip and the days prior. I'm not asking you without reason. This is very important."
She really didn't want to use the decrees, though she supposed Veritaserum woudn't be bad. She'd never do Imperio or Crucio.
