"You're a backward idiot, Savage," Richard said softly. "My phone may not have service here, but it still works. My computers operate inside a warded area. I'm not the only one knows how to do that. If your boffins can't do the same, then you need new ones, or better training."
"And to be quite frank with you, Mr. Senior Auror Savage, your behavior at my flat, and now here, reminds me nothing so much as being like that of the Snatchers and their ilk during the early days when Voldemort took over the Ministry. After the time I spent running from, and occasionally fighting against, the Death Eaters, I'd say I have a better than fair knowledge of how they operate."
When Richard heard his girlfriend mentioned, he got a cold feeling in the pit of his stomach. "Miss Brown? Lavender? Was she the one attacked? What happened?" He felt himself go white, and collapsed in his chair. "Merlin! What happened? I need to go to her." He reached into his pocket and pulled out his keyring, tossing it onto the table in front of Ginny. "That will give you full access to any lock in the building. Get me one of my wands and I'll key yours to the wards on the flat. Merlin! I need to be two places at once! You need access to the security computer and it takes my fingerprint to do that, and I need to go to Lavender. Merlin!"
"Ginny," there were tears starting in Richard's eyes. "Get a real interrogator in here that can question me under Imperius and Veritas Serum both. I won't resist. Pull my memories from Sunday night and put them in a pensieve if you want. I need to get out of here as soon as possible and get to Lavender."
