RP: Being a friend whether it's wanted or not When: 4 January 2004 Who: Hermione Granger, George Weasley Where:Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes Private/Public: Public...if you want to pop in, please do! Rating: G Summary: Hermione stops by George's shop to check up on him. She doesn't think she's really helping, but she feels she should.
Hermione had only been from work to her flat the past few days, and she'd been having a hard time staying focused on work. She'd left Bill and Fleur's New Year's Eve gathering feeling very confused about her encounter with Ron and then the gift that Ginny passed on to her. She wasn't at all sure what to do about it, but the necklace had gone around her neck as soon as she got home and it hadn't come off. Even now, her fingers strayed to it, touching it lightly to assure herself that it was real and still there.
But she had noticed an unfortunate trend to stay to the safe path of work and home, and she was determined to force herself out of the rut she was getting herself in. She had owled Alicia after the article in the Prophet, and that had served to remind her that she did have friends and that she was neglecting them.
So instead of working through her lunch at the Ministry, she was taking a break. She had a friend that she needed to make sure was okay, even if he would hardly appreciate knowing that she felt the need to check up on him.
She picked up a cup of coffee at a place outside the Ministry, charmed it to stay hot, and then apparated to the Leaky so she could get into Diagon Alley. Then it was a quick walk to George's shop.
She held her breath as she entered and paused, but nothing fell on her or popped out at her or shrieked at her so she thought she was safe.
'Oy, George!' she called. 'I've got coffee, and it's that nasty harsh stuff you like!'
