Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Maddie and Buck
Where: At the 118
When: Friday afternoon
What: Maddie stops by the fire station to drop off some cookies
Status: Closed and ongoing

Maddie had decided she was going to make a stop with Jee-Yun to the 118. She had cookies she had made for everyone. And it would be a great chance for her daughter to see her Uncle. She had told Jee what they were going to do and the toddler clapped her hands.

With the cookies and the baby in hand she walked up to the station with Jee in a stroller. Immediately she saw Buck and smiled. “Hey there! Thought I’d drop these by for everyone. Plus Jee wanted to see her favorite uncle. How have you been?”

"Hey!" Buck was on top of the ladder truck making sure it was clean and in top condition. Climbing down easily, he immediately went to take Jee-Yun from his sister to give her a snuggle, then offered a hug to his sister as well. "What'd you bring?" he asked, curious, already leading her up the stairs to the loft area.

"We're good here, and doing even better now!" he was grateful to be back at work so quickly after his last stint in the hospital and recovery, especially without the drama from the last time. No need to repeat that.

Maddie was glad to see her little brother back at work, she’d been so worried about him. Everyone had been worried about him. She smiled at him warmly, offering him Jee and leaning into a hug. “Jee and I brought everyone some cookies. But to be fair I did promise her one when we got here.”

She followed him up to the loft area and set the cookies down. She opened the container and offered one to her daughter. “I’m glad to hear it! I bet you’re glad to be back at work.” Knowing fully well that Evan had a hard time ‘resting’

He'd tried to follow doctor directions! It was just... yeah. He wasn't good at taking it easy, especially when he felt good. Then again, people didn't become fire fighters because they hated working out and pushing their limits.

"Did you make the cookies, Jee?" he asked her seriously, "Taste test to make sure they're edible?" That was a very important job. "Or is that for me to do?" The toddler giggled, poking him in it face which he took to mean that it was his job to taste test.

Turning back to his sister, he set Jee on a chair, one hand making sure she wouldn't fall, "These are awesome thanks. I think Chim and Bobby are on a grocery run but they should be back soon."

Maddie loved her younger brother and would always do what she could to help him. Even when he tried to refuse her help, she would always be there for him if he needed it.

Maddie smiled, “Can you say yes I helped? She is quite the budding chef, she helped put in all the ingredients.” Jee just raised her cookie and smiled at her Uncle. “Well, she’s a very effective taste tester too.”

She watched her daughter and her brother together and she was thankful he was still here. As long as he was here she wouldn’t ever stop trying to make sure he was happy and safe. “OH good, maybe I will wait to say hi to both of them.” She smiled. “So how is the day going? Any major calls today?”

As much as he loved his sister, and he did, she basically raised him instead of their parents which was just... unfair to them both really, he sometimes wished she understood that he was an adult and it wasn't her responsibility to take care of him anymore. He was responsible for that. But she'd gotten a lot better about it over the years that they'd been reunited and he liked to think he had gotten better about taking care of himself, too. Lightning strike not withstanding. That was a freak accident and he had done everything correctly when they were at the scene. That wasn't his fault!

"Nah, nothing too crazy, just an RTA over on Whilshire, minor injuries and all that," it wasn't minor to the people in the accident, but for them it wasn't too bad. Just triage injuries and cleanup more than anything. He would never complain though, he was grateful to be back doing what he loved, "Give it a few hours, I'm sure rush hour will bring something new and interesting." Taking a cookie, he broke it in half and handed one to Jee as he shoved the other in his mouth.

Their childhood was complicated and she’d always done her best to make sure she could do as much for Buck as she could. And right now was no different, getting struck by lightning and dying wasn’t something she took lightly. Even when Buck said he could take care of himself she still worried about him. Since then she had done her best to ease up on him.

“I’m sure you all got it taken care of and everything is just fine for everyone.” Maddie took the calls and they cleaned them up. It happened day to day and accidents could happen to anyone. She shrugged. “You never know what’s going to come at you next now do you?” She looked at the time, she would soon need to take her daughter home for a nap.
