14 December, 1942 Dear Bastian, While I'm relieved you've finally managed to learn how to do your own shopping - it's only been nearly two decades, after all - it's still unacceptable to me that you would go and purchase a gold cauldron, of all things. It couldn't possibly hold up to the highest levels of heat needed in potion-making. You should return it at once and go for the pewter or brass. And no I haven't, as you so eloquently put it, forced some sad sack into being my boyfriend for the winter. You're just as impossible as ever, and you're one to talk! I pity whatever poor girl ends up marrying you. You're as romantic as a tree stump and just as good to look at, too. But for some reason Lucretia Black seems to enjoy talking to you, and she's wonderful, so don't you fuck that up. She's certainly going to go places, so you had better smarten up and write her again and soon. After all, she's much prettier and more intelligent than Ottilie Crabbe, who I hear has a third nipple. Have a good time getting that image out of your head! Love, Thalia PS Mum told me about your upcoming promotion. Congratulations! |
