Announcement |
First, an
announcement: No meeting next week! They'll be making
care packages as soon as they get back, so let people
know! Pick up donations! Find shit to donate. They're
also sowing seeds. Attend to that, and also if there's
shit you want to grow and your parents have seeds for
it, bring it back from holidays. And then
Millicent will introduce the speaker.

Cameron Shafiq british relief assistance fund From one
of the junior branches of the Shafiq family, he
completed seventh year two years ago. His
extracurricular was Chess Club. He's had same gf since
he was 12.
He was in Hufflepuff and a bit cheeky; he carries himself with more gravitas now. Still, he's very casual and willing to take questions throughout the presentation. And since he wants your time, money, and belongings that you'll spare for the BRAF, he is very patient and charming. |
Overview |
Thre are magical people on the Continent displaced by the Muggle and magical wars. The BRAF lobbies for looser emigration requirements for those refugees, and provides monetary assistance to them. The organisation helps the refugees find housing and jobs.
This is peppered by figures, numbers, and goals of the organisation (they hope to increase by at least 5%, get the Ministry to change the requirements). He's here to raise awareness of the organisation, what they do, and the conditions people on the continent are in. He details the latter in a way shows the gravity of the situation without being exploitive. Many BRAF volunteers take refugees into their own homes. He isn't asking that of students, though. The BRAF are always willing to have volunteers work with the organisation over the holidays, and they also accept donations in monetary value and in items, such as old Gobstone sets, so give a little thought to them if you can. |
Questions! Etc. |
He will take them. For about fifteen minutes if they stay on topic. Otherwise, since it's
a relatively short talk, he'll go help with the
garden and be happy to answer anything there. He gets veggies. |
