It had been a few days since Graeme and Trudy had their semi-public fight. In that time, he had mostly stayed true to his word, and avoided her. It had been a been a bit inconvenient sometimes, but then, Graeme did feel a little bad things. No, he didn’t regret what he’d done, but he did feel bad that Trudy was always in the middle of things. So, when he spotted Trudy in the common room, he decided to go over to her. After all, he was pretty sure they were still together. He really didn’t want his first relationship with someone to be over in a week. “Hi,” he said, a bit more hesitantly that he normally would with her. Trudy wished she had been able to ward the entry to Graeme properly. She felt embarrassed for the both of them for making that somewhat public, or at least her feelings on the matter. She felt the need to take a step back and breathe, because she didn’t want to do something rash. Breaking up with Graeme at the time had sounded like a good idea, but now a couple days later she was pretty sure that would have been an awful idea. Sometimes she could be sort of level headed. While she had liked the time apart, she was pleased to see Graeme approaching her. “Hi,” she said with a weak smile. Trudy felt awful about yelling at him in public and she really should apologize. Trudy patted the spot next to her on the couch. “Have a seat,” she wanted to get things sorted out because before the little hiccup she had been relatively happy with Graeme (well if you took away all her cousins and friends she would be very happy). "Alright," Graeme said, happily flopping down right next to Trudy. At least she seemed to have calmed down and wasn't so angry at him. He still wasn't going to apologise for the soup, but he supposed there was one thing he could apologise for. "Sorry you got caught in the middle of everything." Probably best not to mention he'd still probably do it again, if given the chance to. Trudy was happy he seemed himself. It was what she needed right now. If they could act normal then maybe they could work past this. Trudy smiled at him as best she could. “I’m sorry I yelled in words.” And gave him the cold shoulder, but she thought he deserved it. Trudy was on thin ice with her friends as it was. Or at least that was how it felt. Trudy shuffled herself a little closer to Graeme and took his hand. “Sorry in general,” she felt like she had just been awful. She should have had a bit more careful with her words. “How are you?” Trudy felt like she was talking too much. Realising how much he'd missed her, Graeme leaned in, against Trudy. Just how things were supposed to be. "It's okay," he said. He knew he deserved everything, too. "I'm all right though. I just missed you. How're you?" “I missed you too,” she said and leaned over and kissed his cheek. She might have gone for the lips had they not been in the middle of the common room. “I’m okay. Better now you’re here.” Or that they were talking like a normal couple. “Attempting to focus on good things, rather than all the drama that seems to be overwhelming the school.” Trudy gave his hand a little squeeze, “And how are you?” "Good," Graeme said. He was just glad Trudy didn't want to chuck him… at least not yet. "I think that's a good idea. There's so much going on. I think maybe everyone went mad or something!" Well, maybe he could try to shift some of the blame off himself. "But I'm better now, too. I missed talking to you." Trudy nodded her head with agreement, “I think there might be something in the juice.” A little laugh escaped amused at the thought of house elves making mischief. “But I think it is just all the different personalities and rivalries coming to a head.” Trudy was a little bothered by muggleborn attacks, but she didn’t really want to think about them. “I missed talking to you too. And glad things going back to normal.” Trudy knew she would have to actually talk to him about his actions eventually. Though she wasn’t seeking out an argument. Nodding, Graeme agreed. "Aye, it's probably the juice. Never trusted that stuff. Or you know, just people being jerks because other people were jerks and… it just never ends." Not that Graeme was prepared to admit he was part of the problem. He was somewhat grateful that Trudy hadn't pointed that out yet, either. It was just nice to talk to her like things were totally normal. “So how is OWLs studying going?” Trudy searched for a topic anything other than talking about jerks and people doing stupid things. She wanted to avoid the inevitable conversation for as long as possible. If it was possible. But she thought talking about school and studying was a bit of a stretch. Graeme made a face. Ugh, OWLs. He hated studying, it was so boring. Talk about it was just a little less boring, but he was trying to be nice. "I dunno," he said, shrugging. "I'm not too worried about them." He'd probably just manage to pass Care of Magical Creatures and that was enough for him. "What have you been up to lately?" “At least taking the relaxed route leads to less stress.” Trudy shrugged. She remember last year, she had been panicked at the last minute for her classes other than Transfiguration, namely because she left it all till last minute. “Been doing homework, some transfiguration stuff. Not a heck of a lot.” She really didn’t sound that interesting. “Dad owled, he seemed to like you.” It was a nice at least someone was sort of approving. "That's what I was thinking. I don't need any more stress!" Not that Graeme really had that much stress, but still. It was more of an excuse to be lazy. "Yeah, me either. Your dad is great! Did he say if he likes dragons?" It was nice to know that someone in Trudy's family liked him. Plus dads had to count for way more than cousins. Trudy laughed, “Graeme I really don’t know if my dad likes dragons. It isn’t something we have discussed at length. But I am sure he thinks they are pretty neat.” Trudy shook her head. Graeme and his dragons, but it was kind of cute and one of the reasons she liked him. Trudy smiled, and rested her head on Graeme’s shoulder. “So how is detention going?” "You should find out! You could both come and see ours some time!" One of Graeme's favorite things to do was invite people he liked over to see the dragons. Of course, it rarely ever actually happened, but still, the thought counted. "I'm done with it for now, but I ate a flobberworm the other night. So did Algie Selwyn." “Maybe we will.” Trudy wasn’t sure if her father would actually approve of such an adventure, but it was a nice idea. “That’s good that you’re done with it, but then again it also sounds like you are having a bit too much fun?” Trudy paused a moment. “Wait, you ate a flobberworm?” She made a disgusted face as she looked at him properly. “Yeah, good luck trying to get a kiss now Graeme.” "I've always said you should try to make detentions fun," Graeme explained. Sure, sometimes it resulted in more detentions, but at least it was time not spent studying. However, he had, in his infinite wisdom, not counted on eating a flobberworm as a turn-off. If anything it should be a turn-on, he figured. A sign of masculinity! "I brushed my teeth! And my tongue. I'm sure it's fine," he protested. “But you still ate a flobberworm.” Trudy raised an eyebrow at him. She jokingly inched away from him. “That is kind of gross. Flobberworm guts on the breath. Not a turn on Graeme.” Trudy teased. This was far better the discussing the serious things that did sort of need to be discussed. Picking up on the joke, Graeme leaned towards Trudy and trapped her in a bear hug. "Oh no! Now you can't get away! You'll just have to deal with the flobberworm guts!" Then he kissed her on the cheek. Trudy laughed attempting, but not forcefully, to get away from his bear hug. “Don’t you dare.” Trudy said rather amused by the whole thing. “I will never just deal,” but then she was cut off as he kissed her cheek. “Ugh gross flobberworm guts.” She sounded rather over dramatic about the whole thing. Trudy smirked at him before placing a very quick kiss on his lips. No need to get all mushy in front of people. “I guess I can handle them, since you have already infected me.” "Exactly! Now we're both infected. But it's not so bad," he said, letting her out of the bear hug. He was satisfied that he'd gotten even a quick kiss and grinned. "We could take a walk later, if you want," he slyly suggested. “Well,” she paused with an amused smile on her face. “Considering we are both infected I don’t think a walk is completely out of the question.” After a few days away from him, and time to calm down, she felt he deserved a bit of alone time. “The idea of a bit of time alone is most appealing.” "It does sound pretty nice," Graeme agreed. They had lost time to make up for, after all, but he thought better of mentioning that. "Want to go now then?" Taking a peek around the common room she nodded her head, “Let’s go.” There was nothing keeping them seated. She moved from the couch and held out her hand. “Do you have a place to walk in mind?” Graeme took her hand and got up off the couch, too. He shook his head no. Still rather new at this, snagging spots weren't exactly plentiful, as far as he knew. "Let's just explore?" “Sounds good to me,” she said. Trudy had no real idea where to go and snog in private, but she was sure they would find them. Perhaps she had to anonymously write in for advice again. |
