All right. Graeme was going to do this. After pacing around the room for a few minutes, he clapped his hands together resolutely. It was now or never. Well, perhaps that was a little extreme. Surely he could do it later if Trudy was busy, but he may as well do it now, especially since she’d kissed him again last night. He walked down the stairs and into the common room with purpose. It didn’t take long for him to spot her and he grinned as he approached her. “Hi, Trudy,” he said, still smiling. “Do you want to go for a walk?” he asked, without really taking the time to check if she was in the middle of anything. Trudy was in the midst of doing homework, for one of her other classes that was not Transfiguration so really that did not count as doing anything. Really, you could say did you want to come cut my toe nails and she would rather do that, then actually sit down and focus on a class that was no Transfiguration. Anyway, she looked up to see Graeme as he said hello both excited and relieved to see him. This would have to mean she was able to go do something else other than homework. “Of course, would love too.” Trudy said with a smile on her face to match his. At least Graeme seemed in a brilliant mood again, opposed to last night. Perhaps the lure of kisses had worked. “Are we going outside?” Trudy asked, for she would need to go grab her coat and scarf if they were to venture that far. Trudy got up from her spot on the couch and tossed her books on the table, where they would remain forgotten in a heap until she really needed to actually complete the work. “Good!” Graeme smiled again, happy that Trudy’s enthusiasm matched his own. Of course, part of that was nerves, but Trudy didn’t have to know that. “Umm, let’s just walk around the castle,” he suggested, mainly since he’d left his own coat and scarf up in the dorm. “Sure, saves me running up to the dorm.” Trudy was fine with that idea. Plus it was cold outside, and stroll around the corridors was never a bad idea. Sometimes you found areas you swore were not there before. Trudy shuffled herself towards the portrait hole. “So anything on your mind?” She was curious if there was some sort of advice she might need to prep herself to give during this walk. That was one thing of the many things Graeme liked about Trudy; they often thought similarly. “Aye, that’s what I thought, too,” he admitted. He was silent for a few seconds as they walked away from the common room. “Well... yes, actually. I had a question for you. But maybe we should find somewhere just a wee bit more private.” Alright a question for her, that seemed fine. Need to be done in private? That seemed a bit odd. What was it he needed to ask her? Trudy wasn’t so sure what to think or expect from this question. Trudy just nodded her head as she walked with Graeme. “Alright, private we shall find.” Which to some degree was relatively impossible in this school, but they would find something that resembled privacy for sure. Graeme nodded back. He appreciated how understanding Trudy usually was, too. But as they walked, his nerves only increased until finally he couldn’t take it anymore and stopped. “Well, I suppose this is private enough!” He paused, reminding himself of what Magnus had told him. “Um, well... it’s fine if you don’t want to and I’d still be your mate, of course! We’ll always be mates, won’t we? But anyway I like you and I was wondering if you wanted to be my girl?” he said, a bit rushed. However, there, he’d said it and now all he could do was look anxiously at Trudy. Trudy stopped and looked at Graeme when he had said this was private enough. Okay. She readied herself for the question. Looking at him she just took in his word. It all seemed a bit confusing, of course they would be mates. They could get through things, had something happened? But then the final true question came and Trudy heard the words be my girl. Oh. Trudy just stared at him with this blank look on her face. She was shocked. Okay maybe she shouldn’t be they had kissed right, so that was something. Trudy stood there a little dumbfounded. How was she supposed to answer this? What would Aloysius say? Should that matter? Trudy knew what she wanted to say, and that was yes. But this was going to cause problems with her family and she knew it. Though shouldn’t she do what she wanted? Trudy was trying to process all of this while just staring at Graeme not saying anything. “I...” she paused. “Thank you.” Trudy smiled. “Yes.” She would handle her cousin if she had to, because being with Graeme had made her happy so why not go with that makes her happy right? “Really?” Graeme was a little surprised now, he found. He did think maybe she would say no because of her cousin, but she hadn’t. But he felt a little awkward just standing there, a little surprised, so instead he threw his arms around her and gave her another kiss. Trudy didn’t even have a chance to say a reassuring yes. Graeme’s arms were around and she was kissing him again. She had no problems with that. Asides from the fact they were in the corridors but who cared. Anyway, she was Graeme’s girl now so it was appropriate. |
