Her first kiss. Felicity was overcome with nerves as she stepped down the staircase in the same dressing gown she'd worn the night before. But this time, in a quick fit of vulnerability, she had changed the colour to a light blue. It was his favourite colour, and she wanted him to see that she remembered. A weak lumos lighted the way in front of her, but her hand trembled, making shadows dance against the walls of the stairwell. Just relax, she thought, reminding herself of Sam's words. Just relax. She found herself in the common room before too long, but was too anxious and nervous to go about lighting a few candles. So in the darkness of the room she stood with her lumos, still weak and barely giving off any light. But her eyes were adjusting to the dim light and she watched the boy's stairwell for Bing. Bing who had been wearing her down for the greater part of the year for a kiss. Who spoke so highly of her 'admirable parts'. Who she was sure she was about to disappoint. There was no checking his hair before he darted out of his dorm this time. Bing took the stairs down to the common room two, three at a time and nearly tripped on one of them. But he slowed once he noticed the light change and saw the dim flicker of what he hoped was Felicity's lumos and not, Merlin forbid, Pringle's or someone like that. He was more anxious than nervous about this series of events. And though his heart was racing as he stepped out into the common room, his hands were steady. "Any last requests?" he asked a little cheekily once his eyes adjusted to the dark and could make out Felicity in her blue dressing gown. Which he did notice. He didn't touch her just yet, though. She felt her breath catch in her throat as she saw him. She'd found him handsome for awhile now, but never quite as much as she did in that moment. Her hand trembled a little more as he came closer. She shook her head in response to his question and then held her wand with both hands almost like a weapon until she realized what she was doing. She relaxed her hands and set her wand down on the couch so that there was a bit of light for them. But, even though she didn't know much about kissing, she knew that it was probably best if one didn't have their wand in their hands. Besides, what if she got more nervous and started sending out an embarrassing spell? No, this was better. "Oh. I thought of one," she said. But she felt stupid as soon as she said that. Even so, she knew Bing would coax it out of her as he did everything else. "It's silly. Just, I always thought it would nice to be dipped." She folded her hands in front of her stomach, blushing. He thought her request was a little strange, but he didn't say so. "All right," was all he said as he closed the distance between them. In the back of his mind, he thought briefly of his mother, who had warned him out of the blue one day to stay away from her, but he was doing a rubbish job of that, wasn't he? He cleared his throat as if that would do away with the thought and it did for the most part, but it was his fingers looping around her wrists, the pads of his thumbs swiping over the soft skin there, that finally brought him back to the moment. He lifted her hands, placing them on his shoulders so dipping her would be easier, and finally took her in his arms. It was hard for him not to linger there, to take in the moment. He'd been, admittedly, annoyingly dogged in his quest to get her to kiss him, but he'd never actually expected it to happen. So there was always a small part of him that took pleasure in raining on his parade. But that small part of him had been silenced by his hands splayed on her back for support. A gentle tug brought her to his chest and in one mostly smooth motion, he dipped her back and kissed her. It started so fast. One moment he was stroking her wrists in a way that made her shiver down to her toes. The next instant his hands were against her back, her body flush against his and then! She was kissed. Felicity was nervous as it began. She felt certain she would mess it up somehow. But as they kissed she realized it was all so much more natural than she had ever thought. Their noses didn't bump nearly as much as she thought they would, and she felt so warm and happy and special as Bing held her and kissed her. She lifted her arms to wrap around his back, squeezing him gently. After a short pause one of her hands started trailing towards his hair, but lost it's nerve and so it lingered against his neck. It should have been over within seconds. After all, Bing remembered telling her her first kiss ought to be chaste. But that was easier said than done. Of course, he'd let go the second he felt any sign of resistance from the girl in his arms, but her hand at this neck wasn't necessarily whatever the opposite of an invitation was. He moved one hand up to cup the back of her head, threading his fingers through her hair. Inhaling sharply through his nose, he parted her lips with his and explored the inside of her mouth with his tongue, just as he said he wouldn't. If he were really giving his actions any thought, he'd hope she didn't slap him. But he wasn't really thinking with his head any more. She was surprised at the change his mouth brought. But Felicity was willing to let him drive the broom and when he had described all the things he'd wanted to do in a kiss she hadn't really had a problem with them, theoretically. But she hadn't been as nervous about them. Although she allowed him to explore her mouth, she wasn't sure how to gain the courage to move her tongue at all, so it lay in wait. But her hand moved and found his hair as she slowly righted herself, her mouth still on his. After a moment of exploring her mouth with no reciprocation, he pulled away and straightened himself, running his fingertips through her hair as he moved his hands away from her body. He felt uncomfortable suddenly, less because of who he'd just kissed and more because of the fact that he was a teenage boy who'd just kissed a very pretty girl. He cleared his throat again and shifted on the balls of his feet and for once in his life had absolutely no clue what to say. But he doubted he'd get away with saying nothing and once his brain started working again, he said the first thing that came to mind. "Well," he said weakly, "You're not a bad kisser at all." "Really?" she said softly. Her cheeks were flushed and she thought she must look silly standing there in front of him. Felicity tugged at one sleeve of her dressing gown as though it hid some sort of answers there. "You aren't bad. I mean, as far as I can tell. For what it's worth," she amended. And that didn't make her feel any stupider at all, of course. But it was late, and she was afraid someone would come upon them and think that they were doing far more than kissing. "You finally got what you wanted," she said. But Felicity was a little sad. Now that he had gotten a kiss out of her, he probably wouldn't spend so much time talking to her. There was nothing to coax out of her now. And he was one of her closest friends, although she had no idea how to express that to him without feeling vulnerable and scared. "Maybe I should..." Go. But she didn't really want to. "What is it?" he asked, reaching out and catching her by the wrist. Now that he'd touched her, he had a feeling he was going to have trouble stopping himself from doing so whenever he pleased. She looked down at her wrist in his hand and back up at him. "It's late," she said. "Maybe we ought to go back to our dormitories." She had a feeling that if she kept on standing there with him she was going to kiss him again. And again. And again. He narrowed his eyes at her slightly, scrutinizing her face in the dim light. Well, fine. He was sure he'd get a chance to bother her about it tomorrow, whatever it was that was giving her pause. "All right," he murmured and gave her wrist a squeeze before releasing it. But he'd be lying if he said his mind wasn't running in the same circle of kisses as hers, so in a moment of boldness he tilted forward and pressed another lingering kiss to her lips. She wasn't expecting the second kiss, but it wasn't unwelcome. She returned the kiss and even set a hand against his waist, enjoying this kiss even more fully since she knew what to do at the outset. But eventually it had to end, and she broke the kiss slowly. "I'll see you tomorrow?" she said, giving him a shy smile as she started to walk backwards toward the dormitory. "Yeah," he said, looking and feeling rather pleased with himself. "Good night, Felicity." He too walked backwards toward his own dormitory and dimly hoped Dieter hadn't been awake to see him sneak out. |
