Grey light was beginning to creep into the room, slowly moving into the quarters it had crept first across the small bed, draping Severus' feet and making them just visible from where they stuck out from underneath the sheet. He moved a toe and took a breath, breathing in the early morning quiet and staring out of the window where the morning star could be seen still in charcoal grey sky. As he breathed in, skin shifted against his, muscle and bone sliding against his leg and abdomen, and she stretched like a feline before curling back around him. "It ain't mornin' yet, Sev," she murmured sleepily, and her hand slid across his chest stirring desires he thought he'd sated the night before. Like the focus in a photograph only Agnes had detail, the rest of the room, no, the rest of his life was merely a hazy background. The cotton sheet lay cool, draped over his skin. The room, although warm, was cooler from the night it had just passed through. And the woman that curled against his side, one leg draped lazily over one of his, was sleepily content. The trusting intimacy of the gesture was almost painful. It wasn't morning yet, and Severus didn't want it to be ever. With morning would come answers that he did not know to questions he did not know how to ask. Morning would throw everything into the harsh light of day, demanding him to make choices, choose alliances, lie to her (and possibly to himself). Morning would bring the sun, and the sun, like Medusa of old, would turn him to stone, a statue incapable of feeling. His hand moved to her arm, running a finger down the softness of her flesh to her elbow, delighting in the feel of her skin under his touch. No, it wasn't morning yet, and in the darkness he could still pretend. He shifted, moving his leg between hers, his arm propped up beside her so that he was looking down at her sleeping form. His lips sought her face, her neck, and her breasts, and a small delighted noise escaped her lips. At that moment, she was beautiful, sensual, and entirely his, and Severus did not intend to waste the moment. |
