CREATE A NEW RELIGION Name of Religion: Hikari no Megami* Name of Sacred Power: Kamilah Nature of Sacred Power: Pantheistic, but some may choose to make her mono- or poly-theistic Beliefs about Sacred Power: Kamilah is female, her age depends on the seasons, and her dress varies on personal belief. I personally believe she wears a white robe adorned with water lilies and lotuses. Where she lives also varies on personal belief. I believe she lives in the woods near a brook. She is kindly, knowledgeable, open to change and the consequence of choices, she is the protector, the inspirer, the teacher, the strengthener and the helper. Ritual: Rituals usually vary in personal belief and what the worshipper is comfortable with. However most rituals involve a few basic tools. There is usually an altar of some sort on which a white candle is placed along side some form of a representation of Kamilah. The worshipper lights the candle and does some form of meditation to find the connections between all things. Some prefer to do this with quiet reflection, others prefer to be more active in finding the balance. Psychic energy is gathered from the ritual and one can use it as a source for what they are doing or for the good of the earth. It is a good idea to have some type of nourishment prepared for after the ritual, as the energy can be draining even if you are using it for your own inspiration. Ethical Code: Purpose: The purpose of this religion is to respect all things Rules: 1. One should not harm themselves, others, the earth or any animals or plants. 2. Love one another. 3. Give back what you take out of nature 4. Karma— what goes around, comes around— all things have consequences 5. One tries to work for the good of all 6. All things done with love are the powers of Kamilah working through you—this can be everyday things that you don’t really think of outright like cooking, or making your bed or watering the garden or taking care of family or picking up after yourself and others. 7. Things can influence your decisions mentally.(You don’t necessarily make your own choices. Something draws you to them.) Story about the religion(This is a mix of myth, creation, and founder story—It’s about Kamilah and the creation of Hikari no Megami) Kamilah had always been respected in her village. She was very different from others and they respected her differences as good things. She was considered to be the epitome of perfection. She was beautiful, cheery, kind, patient and an individual. She loved nature and her house. She felt that both were a home. Villagers said she could sing birds out of trees and babble with the brook and whisper with the wind. She could calm most animals and wherever she walked things grew thicker and more beautiful than ever. She had communication skills and connections to all things. When she was a young woman, she had a daughter named Talibah. One day during the winter months, Talibah came to her. “When I am lost and cannot find you, where will you be?” Kamilah laughed at her daughter, partially amused and partially glad that this had happened. “You will never be lost. I am the wind in your hair and the trees that give you shade. I am the babbling brook and the bird chirping good news. I am a flower in the meadow and a raindrop in the sea. I am always with you wherever you may go.” Kamilah continued. “Soon, I must leave you. You are to carry on my traditions, daughter. I am giving you and your followers the freedom to choose how to worship, but I would like them to know my teachings. Respect all to gain respect. This is the way to live in harmony with all.” After Kamilah passed on later that winter, Talibah began to teach her villagers the ways Kamilah had taught her. The people had to choose how they wished to worship but Talibah had the laws and stories Kamilah had told her. And that was how Hikari no Megami* came to be.
*Hikari no Megami means “Goddess of Light” in Japanese.
