Lisa arrived just as the guests were pouring into the ballroom, fashionably late, as Aloysius had insisted they arrive. She looked around the ballroom quickly, trying to find Padma, or perhaps even James, if Padma had decided to drag him along. Her search was cut short, however, when she was pulled away. She had forgotten that she was stuck on Aloysius's arm for at least fifteen minutes, where she would sit through boring chatter about the silliest things. The talk of the night with Aloysius and his friends seemed to be about how "controversial" this party might turn out to be, what with the Muggle themes and all. Lisa was finally allowed to leave when she asked why any of them had attended if they were so offended by Theodore Nott's choices. Though she had asked very kindly, Aloysius knew what Lisa really meant.
Though she would hear about it later, it was all for the best. She was sure she had spotted James nearby, and, as soon as she was detached from Aloysius's arm, she was gone, walking after him as quickly as she could while still remaining casual. She finally caught up to the man, and began to reach out for his hand, but he turned before she could reach for him. It wasn't James at all, something she should have realized- the man was at least a foot shorter than James. She sighed and turned away from the man, feeling utterly ridiculous. She loved her dress, but she felt strange with her hair up as it was. She rarely ever had her hair up. Lisa walked around for a few minutes, now looking for Padma more than anyone else. She would just have to ask her whether she had invited James.
When her eyes finally landed on James, she had to do a double-take. Was it really him? Her heart skipped a beat, and, feeling very much like a silly schoolgirl, she raced after him, slowing down just a moment before she came to him. She touched his hand lightly, a small smile growing on her face.
