[warded against anyone but immediate Wood blood relatives] Oliver, Hello, darling. We were pleased to receive your package, though we did not recognise the owl. I'm sure you meant it that way. The money was not necessary, but the gesture appreciated. Emilie was delighted to receive your gift, though she would never admit. She's planted a small garden in our back yard and the herbology book is perfect since she still cannot perform magic. She was glad to hear you are well, though she'd never admit - too much like your father James. We have been so worried for you, but we continue to do what we must. I limit her time outdoors and we've taken to shopping in towns where we are not known. The neighbors ask where my daughter has gone to, and I told them that she is visiting her grandparents, but you and I both know that lies and deception can only hold out so long and I fear someone will find out she is British by birth any day now and take her away from me and send her to your Minister. You are right, even Beauxbatons would not be safe for her now. I would send her to an overseas terriotry for her education, but I am afraid they would need more paperwork than I am willing to provide and send her back to Britain. It seems all public schooling would lead back to Britain and I cannot let that happen. I am scared for her, for you - for our family. I wish I could hide her away, but oh, what a terrible thing to do to a child. I am so scared to hide her here or with my parents. Friends know about Emilie and would send Gardiens and Aurors to us first if they were looking for her. Maman says your Minister is no better than Hitler. I Emilie knows I am writing to you and wishes me to attach what I am sure is a scathing lecture on your 'irresponsibility and lack of intelligence'. She is so like James - the things she says! You would laugh, (and I try not to,) at how seriously she takes herself and her ideas. I am so proud of your honor and strength when it comes to her. I do not know if that is as clear in English as it is in French, but your love and concern for her is beautiful and genuine. Your father would be so proud. I hope this finds you safe and well. Dear Oliver, How are you? I am fine. Maman says you are fighting in the war and that you are very brave. I think you are being stupid. If you are killed I will never forgive you. If you are killed, you will miss my birthday and I'm turning TEN. Please tell Grandmère not to forget my cake. Maman says I might have to leave France because Grandpere had Muggle parents. That's the stupiedest thing I've ever heard - well, not as stupid as you fighting in the war. Don't get killed. I love you Love, |
