DEAR ELLIE
Ellie
Dear Ellie, I grew up in the brothel business and haven't been able to find the right man. And the one man I'm most interested in treats me like trash. Most of my friends aren't even interested in long term relationships. Am I going to die alone? From, Lonely in a Brothel
Dear Lonely in a Brothel, Perhaps you need to look outside of the places which you usually frequent. There is nothing shameful in your background, but it is rather difficult to find a good man when you are in such business. Perhaps attending different events, such as the theatre? I would hesitate to suggest bars, as it is important to establish a relationship without the use of alcohol. Regards, Ellie
Dear Ellie, How do you tell a good man from a ... not-so-good man? -Just curious
Dear Just Curious, It rather depends upon what you consider to be a good man. However, I have found that men who are attentive, courteous, and patient are quite often considered to be good catches. If you are out with someone and his attention does not waver from you, and he remembers the rather silly things you say, I would say that is a good man. Best of luck, Ellie
Dear Ellie, I fear that my sister spends too much time at work and not enough time trying to find herself a husband. What can I do or say to convince her that there is more to life than duty and honor? Best, Concerned Sister
Dear Concerned Sister, I would suggest not sticking your nose into your sister's business. If she is content to live a life of duty and honor, it is to be respected and celebrated. Not all women are marriage-minded. Regards, Ellie
Dear Ellie, My boss' woman keeps coming on to me. I think I'm about to be terminated - in the most literal sense of the word - if I don't figure out some way to make it stop. Guy's got a temper. Suggestions? -Sick of Shenanigans
Dear Sick of Shenanigans, Have you spoken to her about your concerns? If you truly fear for your life, it is a conversation worth having. Perhaps she is not aware of how her actions are being perceived? Best, Ellie
