Darling, my Bardic skills are so rusty. I can barely remember how to invent a tale from almost nothing. But for you, I shall endeavor to come up with something.
[............]
All right. It was a sunny day, with a clear blue sky, not a cloud to be seen. Our footsteps echoed in the canyon, and we kept our eyes peeled for any hint of our quarry. A garuda is a fearsome beast, with sharp talons and enormous, powerful wings.
Then we saw a shadow. We looked up to see the great bird, its golden feathers glowing like the last moments of a torch. Cressida fired a few arrows at it, but the great beast was too high. None of our fire power could reach it.
"Copper!" Wil called out to me. "Yer our only hope! Git it to dive!"
I stepped forward just as the wind picked up, trailing my cloak behind me like a battle flag. "Hey you!" I yelled at the great beast, my voice amplified by the canyon walls. The garuda looked down at me. "Yeah, I'm talking to you, bird-brain! You're so dumb, you wouldn't know up from down if you had three guesses! That's right, you bio-luminescent feather-duster!" Honestly, I don't remember what I said, but it was something like that.
It looked at me, tilting its head as though trying to determine what to do with us. It wasn't angry; garudas are immune to Berserk. It was just thinking. Then suddenly and without warning it dove. It was fast, and larger than any bird you can imagine. It opened its wicked talons and prepared to strike. Then, it picked up Merri by the shoulders and carried him high into the air.
We were in a jagd, so Wil's airship was too far away to be of use, but he acted fast. "Yer not takin' 'im!" he yelled, and pulled a rope from his belt. Looping it around, he lassoed the bird, and it carried him off his feet. High above the ground, he climbed up the rope, hand over hand, until he reached the bird's tail feathers. He climbed up and over, onto the bird's back. It bucked and screeched, but still he hung on. Pulling Stormwind from his back, he stabbed it again and again, then grabbed Merri and jumped.
They had no hope for survival, as high and as quickly as the garuda had climbed, but they had each other. Then, in a flash of desperation, Merri dualcast Aero at the ground, the force of which was enough to slow them down. Their feet hit the ground at the same time.
Meanwhile, the Garuda was still alive, but barely, flying low, its wings beating lamely. Nate threw an explosive at it, and it burst, sending a flurry of bioluminescent feathers down around us. The beast was vanquished. We were heroes.
Then we got back on the airship and flew back to the city and I didn't get sick at all. The end.
