Re: Stone / Altair / Open
“It’s mostly a matter of paying attention. It wasn’t my idea, not really—credit for that would go to a… colleague, of mine…” Stone trailed off, disliking how awkwardly the word colleague rolled off her tongue. She never was a girl of words. “She had this idea, and I dunno if it was really hers, but it went something like, ‘People say the damnedest of things, you just have to pay attention.’ I try to keep it on an even level between butting out of people’s personal business and keeping an ear for things that’d be useful.”
That was the last time the pale thief had seen that so-called ‘colleague.’ She’d definitely heard of her, Bertha Gladson, through the communication network of the Thieves Guild, but Stone hadn’t crossed paths with Bertha since. “Why’d you point it out? Have you been keeping an ear for useful things?”
It seemed to Stone that perhaps Altair was putting this part of her character in focus for a reason, though she couldn’t possibly fathom why. More likely, this could just be his way of making conversation, but it isn’t wise to rule out all possibilities.
