She was not sure if Juliette's reactions to kind words were something that Lady Demiel had trained into her or if they were truly a manifestation of feeling awkward or uncomfortable. Whatever the reason, it was unfortunate. She reached over the table to pat Juliette's hand. "Be that as it may, kind words hold truth." She often found Juliette's company to be lovely, for the girl was well behaved and very mild mannered. Something that many young men and women were often not most days.
"Were you?" She was quite surprised that the Demiels had allowed such, but it was pleasant news to hear. She often wondered how much of a life Juliette had outside of her studies, and knowing that there were certain pleasures that she was permitted went a long way towards easing her worry. "I do hope you enjoyed yourself?"
She took another sip of her tea and considered the question. "I have been well," she replied. "I shall spare you the dull details of running the tavern, though I do hear that you will be attending a sleepover this coming weekend?"
