She flushed ever so slightly and looked down into her cup. It was the correct and polite thing to say, but... her company was hardly lovely, really; she could barely carry a conversation about anything other than the weather or her training without a measure of awkwardness, and her training would not interest the Countess. "You are too kind."
The first sandwich disappeared in two bites. She took two more, setting them on her plate. Sharp cheese and jam, cucumber, chive and cream cheese. Light and refreshing and ultimately filling. "I have been quite well," she answered, and it was more true than not, for a change. "I have been training hard. And I... went to the beach, yesterday." She still couldn't believe she had been permitted. Lady Demiel had grumbled about the slight bronzing of her skin, but even so, it had been a small price to pay. "And yourself?" she asked after a moment. She felt a bit bad, asking - the older woman was intensely private, and Juliette always thought that if she wanted to share something, she would offer, but... this was the polite question to ask, and she followed up with, "It has been some time since I have seen you."
