There it was, one of Elvira's stock phrases, almost robotically (mechanical and heartless—is that how they would describe her?) recycled again and again. She reined in the extra spoonful of sugar in her words when speaking to this Cassul as opposed to the other; she swallowed the bitterness in her delivery of the same words to Divina. The holy knight tittered around noble events, a sycophant if they desired one. This party pulled her out of her usual purview but still the words came naturally, casually.
Elvira's gaze focused solely on Aspel now that the councilwoman returned the attention, both eyes on the older woman like a hunter zeroing in on a target. "I hope you are enjoying yourself as well?" And then, of course, business. "How have you been? Your councillors' duties keep you preoccupied, surely. You and Councillor Liu work so hard."
