Innocent civilians, they were not. Wil watched as one bomb in front of him withered from a pressured mass to a few floating scraps as his spear stabbed through it with a savage thrust.
"Back on up!" He hollered as he stepped up to the bloated creature in front of Stone. With another roar, he wielded Stormwind like a bat and swung it high. It sailed just a foot over the girl's head and slammed into the creature with all the force Wil could muster with such a fast swing. It sailed back with the force of his swing, just before the doorway they had come through. With one last evil sneer, the thing exploded.
A flash of light, then a deep, thundering explosion rocked the area around them. When Wil opened his eyes the area was blackened and most of them were still standing.
His allies, at least. Two more bombs were felled and the area appeared to be, for the moment, clear.
But two burning eyes peered out at them. Then a clockwork arm went through the door. "Golem!" He shouted. You saw these a lot. Weird machinations of magick and engineering, they were often pieced together guardians from spare parts and a magic user's will. It's front was already blackened from the blast. Wil took steps forward to meet it and braced himself. He had to give the others time to recover.
