Wil had a talent for keeping himself, and anyone with him, alive. It was all about keeping at least one step of everything trying to kill you. Here, he could discount most traps unless someone was killing you. Thieves were so valuable because, like with Stone, you could actively assume they could manage those or they wouldn't be alive enough to be any help to anyone anyway.
The real threat was all the sound. Stones echoed rushing water, drips of moisture, and the shuffling of feet in ever direction. Rat claws five meters off sprung into the rustling of bat wings above your head as the sound skittered about. Still, there was no mistaken the sound of steel being drawn. Wil looked behind him and saw nothing questionable sprung behind them.
So, in front. "Shit." He grunted reaching forward before Altair to put him flush against the wall so he could get past. Hefting his spear in his right hand he didn't even bother to let Ari flatten, he put an arm around her and shuffled her behind. Stone he got past just as easily, tiny and spry as she was.
It was clobberin' time.
Wil hustled ahead and spotted the orange blob that looked like it ate a rock facing down a determined looking woman. Heh, he did love saving women in distress. "Hrahr!" A battle cry was practically required as he leapt forward into the fry...literally. As he got closer he realized the rock was actually a man. Well, that was no good, Wil twisted his spear upside down and thrust his spear, rifle end up, just underneath the man. He grabbed a large brass nodule at the end of his spear, turned the bit and shoved it forward. Wil caught Siana's eye and smirked. Then pulled the trigger.
The rifle end burst in a great flare of light inside the beast and the bottom end of the flan (or front if it was facing the woman? how did these things work!?) burst open in a small flood as the man came sprawling out with the small flood of ooze.
A tentacle shot out for him, just smacking his spear, narrowly missing his hand. Fucking flans. Maybe he should've asked Merri along. This would take forever. "Altair!" He hollered, hoping he'd come prepared for something like this.
