"As I wish, really?" she drawled. "Well in that case, feel free to do with me as you wish once we reach my bed." She was apparently quite sober enough to make the proposition. And to follow through, she thought, if it really led anywhere. Though she was also sober enough to doubt it would lead where she wished.
It was really unfortunate that her hands were not positioned particularly well to take full advantage of the fact that she was pressed so tightly against her companion. Hopefully, they would be upstairs soon. As much as she enjoyed being held in this manner, Ari really thought a few other positions might be even better.
She knew they had reached the stairs by the pause, the tightening of Aspel's grip, and the low words, but she only said, "You won't," with a certainty that was absolute despite her present state. "I'll trust you tonight," she murmured as the ascent began, "not to let me fall."
And she was apparently far too lightheaded to think through the words coming out of her mouth.
