Merri nodded, his smile weakening as he curled his fingers around one of her hands. "Yes, something... something like that," he said, his eyes turning downcast. Unfortunately, where his eyes fell upon caused him to jerk his chin down further so that he would stare at their feet instead, but he was no less melancholy though he still put in his best efforts.
"It helped," he said, finally lifting his eyes up to meet hers. This time his grin was a little easier. "The music was gorgeous and the costumes were beautiful and the story... and you! It was all wonderful. You were wonderful! And..." He glanced behind him as though the door was still open and he could see all the other glorious actors and actresses in costume fluttering about. "... back here is unlike anything I ever expected!" Not that Merri was sure what to expect, in truth. "Thank you, again, for letting me come back here!"
