"Pfft, like I don't like spending time with you," she said with a smile reflecting his own. She was more than happy to help a friend. It took off much needed stress and pleased his mother as well, even if it was a lie.
"I'll make sure to let you know if something comes up, for certain," she said, not really taking the full scope of what that meant into consideration. This was mostly because she didn't believe it would become an issue.
A moment later his hand was on hers and she looked at it as he gave her a squeeze. The question, although only in jest, made her beam. "Yes." It was followed by a giggle. No one had ever actually asked her out and it wasn't depressing that this wasn't a real relationship. "Should we share an ice cream to celebrate?"
