"Oh," she said quietly attempting to understand what was happening. He didn't want a girlfriend because he didn't feel he was ready for one, yet believed he was ready to pretend he was in a relationship. On the bright side, she looked nice enough so if his mom happened to pass by they'd look like something...she guessed?
On the one hand, Eden would be relieving some of his stress and easing his mother's mind. On the other hand, she didn't know how she felt lying to the woman, but if worse came to worst, they could always just amiably part ways? The silence stretched out as she thought about all these things and having a pretend boyfriend would be fun-ish. Having a real boyfriend would be better, but she could cross that bridge when they got to it. Of course, she'd have to also drop a few notes off to certain people as well.
"Would it just be your mother or would we be telling other people as well?" She needed some scope.
