FAMFRIT vs. Party Five: Mag/Kiernan/Ophion
The monster hovered menacingly before them. Mag had hurried to cast Armor Break as fast as she could, hoping to finish before the next tidal wave interrupted her, but no such attack came. For a split second, Mag hesitated -- was this an opening, or did the monster hope to lure them in for a different attack? It occurred to her then that they must not be the only ones engaging the beast. Once she considered that possibility, it seemed common sense that there would be other teams around, but it was hard to be reassured by this. She had no idea where the others were, if indeed there were others, or how they were faring. These possible allies seemed intangible to her mind; the thick Mist surrounding her made her feel isolated even from her own teammates, and made the streets and the fight seem unreal and nightmarish.
No time to think of anyone who may be fighting on a different front; if this really was an opening, it had to be exploited to the fullest. Fire seemed to hurt the beast most, but that wasn't an option for her. Mag had felt Kiernan run toward the creature moments after completing her casting, and she considered Jumping again, but it seemed far too dangerous. The water reached their ankles too, and there was debris everywhere; she would not be able to get proper footing. Her only option was to shoot in the direction of the shadow and hope she hit something important. The monster's armor should now have been weakened, so her bullets would inflict more damage.
Mag waited until she heard Kiernan land nearby, and opened fire on the beast. She often practised shooting targets the size of a pinhead; with a target this size, there was no way her bullets would miss.
