It had been a very long and thoroughly confusing day, though she could not deny the educational value of the outing. Still, when she had yearned for more real-world experience, she had not expected it to be... quite this real. She had been acquitting herself moderately well against smaller groups, especially considering the fact that the older warrior was quite compelling at capturing and holding their attention. She tried to watch his stances and reactions, though she was not often left without opponent, either.
She still did not like the short sword, but she could admit its utility in this case; the abominations they faced were rotting and dessicated, and the thought of putting her hands on them...
When she had felled the first of them, she had lost her breakfast.
She was steadier now. Perhaps she was desensitized; they were still horrifying but her reaction was no longer quite so visceral. She was able to swing her sword to take apart those which got past the man she accompanied, though as yet another group approached and she readied herself to meet them, she could admit that she was growing tired under the weight of armor to which she was as yet unaccustomed. But until told to fall back, she would fight on, and the threat to the city...
She could not do much - even the two of them, with the berserker's far superior skill could not really do much - but each monstrosity felled was one less to terrorize the surroundings. Perhaps it would have to be enough.
