She had to wonder at the disapproval; like several of her cohorts, she had no primary mentor, being cycled around various teachers instead. She selected those whose help most interested her - when she had the opportunity - and the councilors were incredibly accommodating, despite their busy schedules.
She took the bowl, tilting her head slightly as he spoke - this time not of cooking, but of serenity. An unlikely topic from someone of his class. "I have often been told that a clear and calm mind is the warrior's greatest weapon," she quoted softly. It had been drummed into her head from an early age. The idea of letting the anger take over - even in battle - was terrifying. She didn't know how the berserkers could stand it. She would surely be far too anxious to be effective.
"Perhaps..." Oh, hopefully she was not being too bold, but.... "I can assist?" she asked finally. "I must stay until all the dishes are done, and... it could be... efficient." Provided she didn't slow his work down, of course. But it was as good an excuse as any, and she was always eager for new skills which could assist her with mastering her emotions.
