Duck, parry, side-step, deflection blow, back flip and forward charge… Unfortunately, the training dummies weren’t a fraction of the challenge that she needed, craved really. Being able to run up them before launching off for a flip wasn’t particularly hard, and while that sort of maneuver would be particularly difficult on a human sized opponent, if not potentially impossible, it’d be useful against larger enemies. Speed was her greatest strength and launching into a series of attacks, keeping her feet moving while slashing away and letting the reverb of bullets being fired, shred her enemies was going to be hard if she didn’t keep up her endurance. At least in the KingsGuard, they had regular training regimens, and with the missions she’d been off with the Rangers on, the threats had never particularly seemed to end. Admittedly, they had never been as big as a zombie invasion in the middle of the damn city, or a mammoth sea serpent. Faram, what had transpired while she’d been away for the greater part of these past two years? Had the city gone mad? What the hell had the EKP been doing? Sitting on their hands? If any of this made it far enough to attack the King, she’d gut the beast herself, come hell or high water, and she would find a way to do it with the anger boiling up from deep within her. Mouth setting in a firm, and grim line, Ceres took off again towards the nearest training dummy, a flourish of her wrist had her gunblade drawn, and a flick of her wrist combined with fluid arm movements began her practicing of applying the barrage technique – normally saved for firing bullets from her gunblade – to the slashes of her sword. If she could learn to fully apply such a concept to her melee combat as well, she might find a way to cut down foes before they even had a remote chance at retaliating. The day was destined to be spent upon the destruction of training dummies, that was, unless some poor, unfortunate soul decided that disrupting the rigid and single minded fighter for a spar – as she was in the area for it – was in their best interest that day. |
